Bayless Proposition BUPDATE Proposition B passes 58% - 42%. Thank you voters. On April 3, Bayless voters will be asked to approve a $0.92 tax increase to pay for operating the Bayless School District. This website was created to provide you with timely and accurate information about Proposition B: How it came about, why it is needed and what happens if it does not pass. Bayless Schools have been educating students since 1868. Our District has a strong tradition of solid academic performance and careful financial management. Bayless has among the lowest tax rates and teacher salaries compared to other school districts in St. Louis County. Despite these challenges, our schools have done remarkably well educating our students. Bayless Schools have been accredited with distinction for the past two years, earning a perfect 14 points out of 14 possible on State performance standards. Simply put, Bayless Schools do more with less money than any other district in St. Louis County, and we are proud of that fact. Bayless has not received a tax increase for operating our schools since 2001, and after 3 years of reduced state money and budget cuts the School Board has determined that we need additional help from our residents. The links to the left will provide additional information about the needs of the district and what our options are going forward. Remember, if you have a questions please do not hesitate to contact us by using the contact form at the bottom of the links. |
